Bixby button on Samsung’s 2017 Admiral Ships, is nothing else than a button that is accidentaly pushed. But there are ways to change it.
Samsung, presented the new voice assistant Bixby with it’s 2017 Spring Admiral Ships Galaxy S8 and S8+. Many people were excited to have a new and useful voice assistant, but things did not work as expected.
Its been months after the devices came out but English language support was just released and there is still no support for other languages. Also Bixby support still is not available for Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, which models were most sold last year.
Besides the support problems, Bixby does not work consistently and it made Samsung users grew away from it. The Bixby key on the Galaxy S8, S8 +, and Note 8 has become a button useless else than accidentally opening the assistant.
App developers, helped users reassign Bixby operations with 3rd party apps, since Android is a free platform. But Samsung rendered this apps invalid with an update.
Developers, after Samsung’s move, updated their apps and let users reassign Bixby button again. This apps will keep working until Samsung releases another update.
If you are one of those who find Bixby key unnecessary, there is a solution we can recommend to you. In Google Play Store search for ‘Bixby Remapper’. Many results will come, but we recommend ‘Bixby Button Remapper’ application. When you open the application, you will be prompted with a confirmation.
Then you’ll see a button above in a deactivated state. Activate it. You will receive a warning from your host accessibility settings requesting some permissions. Touch ‘Continue’ and activate ‘Less Delay’ in the Bixby Remapper settings in the services section below.
Go back to the application and you will see ‘Bixby Button Action’ at the top. From there you can assign the task you want to the Bixby button. As we stated before, Samsung can override this application with a new update. However, you can assign a task to the Bixby key again using a different application.
We hope that in future updates, Samsung will also bring the Turkish language support to the voice assistant and make it accessible for more devices. But more important, Bixby needs to be a more stable voice assistant.
